Welcome to PPPESO!

The Perinatal Partnership Program of Eastern and Southeastern Ontario (PPPESO) works together with hospitals, health departments, community agencies, academic institutions, private practitioners, and consumers to effectively link perinatal care, education, and research.

 

The Scope of PPPESO

  • A formalized network of 37 organizations providing perinatal care.
  • A partnership model  - partners include expert perinatal care providers, researchers, knowledge brokers, leaders, and administrators.
  • Unites the region on common perinatal issues and opportunities and is instrumental in building linkages between hospitals and community based programs including community health centres, public health and midwifery groups.
  • Partners and staff collaborate on education, knowledge exchange, service planning, networking, influencing change, collaborative practice models and celebrating achievements.
  • Is positioned to provide a regional perspective on issues and guide regional initiatives.
  • A resource that has helped the region strive towards making improvements to perinatal outcomes.
  • Promotes adoption of best practices and helps  to standardize practice across the region.
  • A model of health integration "in action"  and demonstrates how partnerships /networks can collaborate with the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs).
  • Fosters the collection and use of essential data from the Niday Perinatal database.  Niday data helps centres to compare themselves to others, develop benchmarks, enhance planning and develop quality indicators. 
  • Is linked to provincial, national and international perinatal initiatives and uses this information and contacts to improve care in the region.
  • Provides consultation and clinical resource information.
  • Increasingly responding to requests for customized education programs or consultations.
  • Serves as an example of the value of collaboration and is a model for support of patient care and all dimensions of professional practice.
